THE CITY TALK
LAST TIME WE TALKED, YOU TOLD ME THAT EVERY TIME YOU COULD GET OUT OF PARIS YOU WOULD DO IT…
I found love in Paris these past few months, it changed everything. Love is very important and I found it. I’m very happy to be close to my love. He works in Paris. He has his own musical project and he needs to be there. If one day I feel like I want to move to Lisbon or something, we’ll figure something out. For now, I’d rather have a small flat in Paris to be able to stay whenever I want and escape whenever I want too.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT LIVING IN PARIS AND WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE THE MOST?
I don’t like the noise and the pollution in Paris. I hate hearing the engine of the cars, the motorcycles. I don’t like the sound of cities in general. In Cap-Ferret I have the sound of the wind and the frogs at night. I can hear the rain.
WHAT ATMOSPHERE DO YOU NEED TO CREATE A COLLECTION?
The silence.
YOU DON’T WORK LISTENING TO MUSIC?
I do. I listen to music all day long. Playlists I created and picked over the years. I mix different styles. But even someone that speaks on the phone next to me bothers me. I really need to be by myself and once I’m in my bubble, I can listen to my music.
DO YOU HAVE A PLACE YOU LIKE MOST IN PARIS?
I like the place Saint Sulpice, I like crossing the bridges. I like being on my bike and stroll around.
ARE YOU INSPIRED TO DRAW SITTING IN CAFES ?
No, I used to do it when I was a student. I had a little notebook and I would draw in bars. Now I like to be at home.
WHERE DO YOU FEEL MOST AT HOME?
At Cap-Ferret!
WHEN YOU ARE THERE, DO YOU STAY AT YOUR FAMILY HOUSE?
Yes I do but I also have an art studio there. It’s beautiful and open on the forest. Just a wooden table and some hangers for my collections. I paint there, it’s very joyful.
WHAT DO YOU DO APART FROM PAINTING WHEN YOU ARE IN CAP-FERRET? I KNOW YOU SPEND THE SUMMER THERE, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT FOR SOMEONE THAT DOES NOT KNOW IT?
We have yellow sand and pine trees. I see the highest dune of Europe from my window. I have a wooden cabin. I feel very comfortable in this wooden atmosphere. It’s my element. When I need to relax I definitely need to connect with wood and water.
FOR SOMEONE WHO WOULD VISIT CAP-FERRET FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR A DAY, WHERE WOULD YOU TAKE HER?
I would take that person to my cabin to see how beautiful it is. I would ask her to take her shoes off right away and go for a swim in the ocean. Then we would eat oysters on the lagoon. We would walk in nature mainly, the city is not very interesting. The best is to be able to see both the ocean and the lagoon. You can surf as well, then take a boat to go visit the birds’ island. This day would be mainly about sea and food. At night we would probably take her to my friend’s cabin to jam rock songs, naked, surrounded by french celebrities (laughs). There you can really party carefree.
